I couldn’t believe she actually touched the Cockroach, she hates bugs even little ants.

My children, starting with my 16 year son (weird), wearing these unusual shaped colored bracelets.
On his arm they don’t look like anything until he took one off and showed me it was a giraffe, a star, a heart his girlfriend gave him (how sweet). Each day goes by and he gets more and of course now that I’m aware and clued into this fad I see them on everyone’s wrists. Some adults too.
JEM, MC, JM, DC and SB have started collecting them too.
The Amazing Bubble Truck was at the library for the Summer Reading Program “Make a Splash Read” kick off event. And what a kick off. Bubbles, kids even adults all in the parking lot having a great time.
JEM had a knack for making huge bubbles. She will even be in the Reporter Times our local newspaper because she kept producing such large interesting bubbles.
She said the trick was to go slow as you pull the strings out of the bubble solution and not to open them too fast, then just let the wind or body movement blow through making the bubble.
After she explained it to the other kids, everyone got the hang of it. They had so much fun making all kinds of interesting bubbles. Even MJ (below) who is only 3, had a few good ones.
AL had the best large bubbles in my opinion. As I was taking a picture they grew and popped all over me.
I got so many wonderful pictures.
The Morgan County public library here in Martinsville, Indiana offers our youth great summer reading programs every year to encourage them to continue reading during summer break.
This years theme is Make a Splash-Read! The kids receive a reading contract that they fill out stating the number of books or minutes they plan to read this summer. Then at the end of the summer during the end of summer reading party they will receive prizes for meeting their goals. [Read more…]
We went to our 4h community garden today to do some weeding. Right now is the hard part of gardening, all work and nothing to show. We have to haul water from the rain barrels to the garden. The kids got bored fast and went to dig elsewhere.
At least they weren’t digging up the few things we had growing.
I added manure tea to our garden at home. I hope it helps. It looks a little dismal. Many of our things aren’t growing at all. MJ’s pumpkin looks good though.
And her Marigold she planted at the last 4h meeting.
JEM, MCD, and DCD were off to 4h Camp Shakamak.
They will have lots of fun doing camp things like:
- launching pop bottle rockets
- making crafts
- group activities
- and so much more
This is there first time to 4h camp and JEM’s first time to any camp. I have never been away from her for more than a day and I was freaking out. Nervous that I didn’t send her with everything she needed.
But I can’t wait for my JEM to get back.
