The summer is ending soon and I am hoping to start our homeschool year off on time or even early. I need to make up for last year. We had a crazy year of moving. Moved from our house in the beautiful woods to foreclosure and had to move to a rental for 3 months that didn’t work out. Then moved all the way to San Antonio, TX for a 7 month nightmare. To finally moving back to Indiana in April. Had to stay with friends for a month or so to get jobs and find a place to stay. Now we are in a permanent place, at least for a year since we had to get an apartment for now.
We had to use the summer to catch up on some school and hope to start the next school year out right. I have decided I should be organized and start planning now.
Made a list of the books I need to start looking for. I will keep it in my purse so when we are out and stop at used book stores or library sales I will be ready. In the past I have not been prepared and could not remember what I needed, missing out on some good sales.
I like to use the library so I don’t need a lot of text books. JEM is easier than J who is in high school and needs actual text books in math and science.
I use “The Well Trained Mind”, by Jessie Wise and Susan Wise Bauer as a guide. I love this book and has been a great help over the years.
Other great resource for J is HippoCampus that give us free AP courses online. Have been using the Biology course and next year I’m planning on using the U.S. History and Environmental Science courses. Found great deals on the texts need for them on Amazon.
