(Last years dog showmanship (MC and Meka)
Almost time for the Morgan County Fair. Starts July 31st to August 7th. Several days before is the concern for those entering projects and other judging events for 4h, called pre-fair events that run July 14th to July 30th. Fair time can be quite crazy and very busy.
Some of the pre fair events we participate in or like to watch are:
- 4-H Public Speaking Contest
- 4-H Demonstration Contest
- 4-H Fashion Revue
- Baby Contest
- Talent Show
- 4-H and Mini 4h Judging
- 4-H Dog Obedience and Showmanship
- 4-H Bicycle Rodeo
Then the fair starts and even more great events start:
- Little Miss and Mister Contest
- 4-H Mini Pet Parade
- 4-H Mini and Regular Goat Show
- 4-H Rabbit Showmanship Contest
- Tractor Pull
- 4-H Small Animal Show
- Battle of the Barns
The list is long but I’ve only mentioned the ones I usually go to and so there are many more. The County fair offers a lot of entertainment and we find ourselves consumed this whole week, actually two with pre-fair. My husband gets lonely since I can only drag him to the ones our kids are in. He has to fend for himself the rest of the time.
I remember hearing about 4-H and County fairs and always thought it was all about animals. A lot of it is but there is way more to 4-H and the fair than animals.
Our 4-H club, Kids With A Mission decided to make our club shirts bright florescent yellow with Project Security on the back to highlight the indoor 4-H projects to let everyone know about the great amount of diversity there is in 4-H and the many learning opportunities it offers.
