Happy Father’s Day My Wonderful Hubby

Image06052011200801

Father’s Day was a lazy day for my hubby. He was out late at a friends working on his music on Saturday and didn’t get in til the wee hours of the morning. Since it was his day I let him sleep in and have a man day of doing nothing. He slept til 3pm, laid around on the couch and then he did the craziest thing on his day. He went to the grocery store with us voluntarily. I didn’t ask, have to pout, beg, nothing, he just said I’ll go with you guys.

We went to get dinner and a few other things. Picked up some movies and that was our Father’s Day, simple and relaxing.

2011 4-H Dog Fun Match

On Saturday JEM participated in the 4-H Dog Fun Match which is a mock dog show. Every Thursday night from April through July JEM practices dog showmanship and obedience for the Morgan County 4-H Dog project. They have a mock dog show in June so the kids can get a trial run that prepares them for the show that takes place during the County fair.

The Fun Match is just like the real show so they can see how they are doing so far. JEM and her dog Leo did great. They won 5th place in Showmanship, 4th in the Skill-a-thon ( a test of what they know about breads, grooming tools, dog parts, and more), and 1st for obedience. I’m so proud of her and Leo. They still have a month of practice before the County fair show.

Busy Tuesday

The kids and I had a busy day. I wish I would of got up earlier but I stayed up too late. We met my friend Jen and her son at open gym at the Martinsville Gymnastics Academy where my girls take gymnastics on Thursdays.

After the gym we went to the school playground to have lunch. Then we parted ways and I had to go to the library to return and get MJ more books. She loves the library and they have their summer reading program going on. She makes a contract saying how many books she is going to read for the summer and each week she gets a prize when she comes to check out books.

Then we went home and got stuff ready for our 4-H meeting at the community garden. JEM’s group weeded the garden, made pinwheels, and tin pie pan decorations for the garden.

The minis who I’m in charge of made paper plate crafts. I didn’t have as many as I thought I would so it went well and not too messy.

I’m always running out of stuff so we had to go to the store to pick up something easy for dinner. We are on a new healthier diet so going to the store is a challenge because I have to read the labels. We decided on chicken salad and fruit. Very easy and not much cooking just chopping.

Well off to eat dinner.

Paper Plate Crafts with MJ and Jem

Homeschool is out but with a preschooler,  school is never out. I have to have something for her do during the day so instead of calling it school it’s craft time, story-time, and phonics time.  I feel like if we take too much time off we lose our routine.

MJ enjoys painting and making all sorts of things. I found a book about making paper plate crafts to give some direction to her art or gives me some creative things to make.

She has a great imagination and makes stuff up as she goes. I end up with all kinds of creative paper projects to hang on the frig. This summer my goal is to do fun crafty things that incorporate school but the kids don’t realize it.

Jem has many 4-H projects to complete and we have several summer reading activities to do at the library. Jem is going into 6th grade so she has to move up to the teen library program. I’m a little disappointed though, she is still  only 11 and not quite a teen.
