2011 4-H Dog Fun Match

On Saturday JEM participated in the 4-H Dog Fun Match which is a mock dog show. Every Thursday night from April through July JEM practices dog showmanship and obedience for the Morgan County 4-H Dog project. They have a mock dog show in June so the kids can get a trial run that prepares them for the show that takes place during the County fair.

The Fun Match is just like the real show so they can see how they are doing so far. JEM and her dog Leo did great. They won 5th place in Showmanship, 4th in the Skill-a-thon ( a test of what they know about breads, grooming tools, dog parts, and more), and 1st for obedience. I’m so proud of her and Leo. They still have a month of practice before the County fair show.

It was a long day but everything went well and we got great weather.

I’m a homeschooling mom of 3 kids, we live in morgan co., my daughter will be 7 & was interested in dog obediance in 4h in next couple years. I was wondering if I could pick your brain a little, on how to get started. I saw that the show is friday july 29, I thought about going & brining my daughter so she could see what it is like. Any advice?

Sorry it has taken me so long to reply. Yes the show is the 29th of July and starts about 8:30 and goes all day, well until all judging is done. You definitely should come out and see and you are welcome to find me and ask me questions and stuff or even email with questions at kim@mymommydaze.com. I’m also a 4-H club leader with Kids With a Mission and you are welcome to come to our meetings too so you can meet some 4-Hers and get more info on 4-H. We meet throughout the year. Our next meeting is our wrap up meeting/party at Jimmy Nash park on Sept. 13 at the very top playground.

Oh and thanks for stopping by my blog.
