On Saturday June 12th we attended the 4h Dog Fun Match at the Morgan County fair grounds.
JM was showing his dog Tobi, MC was showing her dog Meka, JEM was showing her dog Leo, and DC was showing his dog Missy, at the event.
They were all hesitant that day and seemed unsure they wanted to be there knowing it was going to be a long hot steamy day.
The day was definitely hot and steamy but turned out to fun and a great experience for them.
MC and her dog Meka were the only of our group to have shown before and winning 1st in showmanship to go on to state.
The Fun Match is a mock dog show to give the kids a chance to see how dog showmanship and obedience event will be like. The wonderful thing is they actually received ribbons and trophies for placement in their divisions.
JEM, MC and DC are in the junior division of showmanship, skill-a-thon, and, obedience and placed like so:
- JEM placed 7th in showmanship, 6th in obedience, and 4th in skill-a-thon.
- MD place 6th in showmanship, 3rd in obedience, and 3rd in skill-a-thon.
- DC place 8th in obedience, and got participation for both showmanship and skill-a-thon.
- JM was in the intermediate level and placed 4th in showmanship, 5th in obedience, and 4th in skill-a-thon.
Waiting to get their score sheets to see what they need to do to improve before the actual day of the event. This was a wonderful way for them to see how they are doing and get a overall feel for the way things are going to go.
DC just happy it was over, had been a long long day.
