Kids Had Fun at Grand Opening for Community Hospital South

August 5, 2010 by Kim Leave a Comment

Saturday July 10th we went to the Greenwood Community Hospital South’s grand opening. Cathy was sent a post card about the event by accident and decided to look it up to see what would be of interest knowing from the past that events like these have some great information and fun things going on.

These were great reasons to visit. We thought the kids would find it interesting. Especially our two girls MC and JEM who are very interested in medical science.

MC is intent on trying to use the new Da Vinci robot.

She was pretty good. She was able to put small hoops

on a hill and exchange them from claw to claw.

SB’s turn to use the Da Vinci robot.

They all had a turn in the fire truck.

I do admit, I thought is was going to be boring for the kids. The event turned out to be fun and very interesting.

The kids were able to get hands on demonstrations with the Da Vinci surgical robot, and a couple other types of medical equipment.

The kids, and even 3 year old MJ, all listened attentively to the hospital staff as they explained the procedures and waited patiently for their turn using the instruments.

Radio Disney was fun and the kids won a few prizes. DC won a Toy Story 3 poster. The Street Beat band was such fun. They were break dancing and MJ was mesmerized by the dancing. She loves to do her made up “Baby break dancing” as she calls it. Seeing them head spin, jump and pose was so cool.

MJ won one of the drawing prizes from Radio Disney. Later I think she ate it.

DC and JEM are the last ones left in hot potato.

DC beat JEM and won a Toy Story 3 poster he later gave to MJ.

We all had a great time. Wouldn’t have expected a Hospital as a fun field trip for kids.
